Esteban Ocon has officially signed a multi-year contract with Haas F1 Team, commencing in the 2025 season.
The French driver will partner with rookie Ollie Bearman, forming a new driver lineup for the American-owned outfit. Â
Ocon’s move to Haas follows the departure of Kevin Magnussen at the end of the 2024 season. The 27-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the team, having competed for Manor, Force India, Renault, and Alpine during his Formula 1 career. His notable achievements include three podium finishes, culminating in a Grand Prix victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. Â
A Reunion and Shared Ambitions
A key factor in Ocon’s decision to join Haas was his long-standing relationship with Haas team principal, Ayao Komatsu. The pair previously worked together when Ocon made his Formula 1 testing debut with Lotus in 2014, with Komatsu serving as his race engineer.
“I have a very long history with Ayao, who’s been my first race engineer in Formula 1 – 10 years ago now – and he’s convinced me of his plan on where they want to head to,” Ocon explained. Â
Both Ocon and Komatsu share a common vision for Haas: a drive towards sustained improvement and competitiveness. “Haas are competitors and they want to improve,” Ocon emphasized. “They have big plans ahead.” Â
A Dynamic Driver Pairing
Ocon’s partnership with rookie Ollie Bearman is poised to create a dynamic duo within the Haas garage. While Bearman brings youthful exuberance and raw talent, Ocon’s experience and race-winning pedigree will be invaluable in guiding the team’s development.
“I look forward to being racing with Ollie as well – he’s an exciting young prospect,” Ocon said. “Many people say he’s going to be a future world champion, so I look forward to teaming up with him and hopefully pulling the team forward.”
Haas’s 2025 driver lineup is now complete, with the team aiming to capitalize on the strengths of both drivers to achieve their long-term goals. Â
