Ferrari left the Spanish Grand Prix disappointed with their performance. While Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished fifth and sixth respectively, internal struggles added to the team’s woes.
Despite bringing upgrades to improve the SF-24, including aerodynamic tweaks, the desired results weren’t achieved. However, Team Principal Frederic Vasseur believes the updates functioned and will show their true potential at the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix.
Vasseur emphasized that continuous development is crucial, and while immediate gains aren’t guaranteed, falling behind without upgrades is certain. He pointed out the smaller, more frequent updates seen now compared to previous seasons.
While acknowledging the upgrades’ success, Vasseur hinted at tire management issues during qualifying as a key factor hindering Ferrari in Barcelona. He explained the importance of maintaining tire potential throughout the lap, which they struggled with, leading to a two-tenths deficit to McLaren and Red Bull.
