Jack Doohan, a rising star in the world of Formula 1, has secured a full-time race seat with Alpine for the 2025 season. The Australian driver, who has been part of the Alpine Academy since 2022, will partner with Pierre Gasly, replacing Esteban Ocon.
Doohan, the son of legendary motorcycle racer Mick Doohan, has impressed with his performances in junior formulas. He finished third in the 2021 Formula 3 Championship and followed that up with a third-place finish in the 2022 Formula 2 standings.
Alpine has been closely monitoring Doohan’s progress and has consistently expressed confidence in his abilities. His consistent performances and dedication have earned him the opportunity to step up to the highest level of motorsport.
Doohan gets Excitement and Gratitude
The young driver expressed his delight at securing a full-time F1 seat with Alpine. “I am so happy to secure promotion into a full-time race seat in 2025 with BWT Alpine F1 Team,” Doohan said. “I am very grateful for the trust and belief by the team’s senior management.”
Doohan acknowledged the hard work and dedication that went into securing this opportunity. “There is so much work ahead to be prepared and ready, and I will give my best in the meantime to absorb as much information and knowledge to be ready for the step up,” he added. Â
Alpine's Confidence in Doohan
Oliver Oakes, Alpine’s newly appointed Team Principal, has expressed his enthusiasm for Doohan’s promotion. “Personally, I have worked with Jack back in 2019 and I am fully aware of his raw talent and potential,” Oakes said. “He is a very hard worker behind the scenes and his commitment is hugely valued by the entire team.”
Oakes believes that Doohan, along with Pierre Gasly, forms a strong and well-balanced driver lineup. “We look forward to working with both Jack and Pierre in order to keep developing the car and bring the team up the grid,” he added.
Doohan Continued Development
Despite securing a full-time F1 seat for 2025, Doohan will continue to play a role in Alpine’s reserve driver program for the remainder of the 2024 season. He will participate in regular tests with the team’s 2022 car and contribute to simulator work.
Doohan’s promotion to a full-time F1 driver is a testament to his talent and hard work. With the support of Alpine and the experience gained in reserve driver roles, Doohan is well-positioned to make a significant impact in Formula 1.
