British teenager Oliver Bearman is set to be a permanent fixture on the 2025 Formula 1 grid after securing a multi-year contract with Haas. The 19-year-old, a rising star in the Ferrari Driver Academy, impressed the paddock with a surprise debut for Ferrari earlier this year.
A Dream Come True
“It’s hard to put into words just how much this means to me,” said Bearman, bubbling with excitement. “To say out loud that I will be a Formula 1 driver for Haas makes me so immensely proud. To be one of the very few people who get to do the thing they dreamed of as a child is something truly incredible.”
Following in Leclerc's Footsteps
Bearman joined the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy in 2021, following in the footsteps of current Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. This association also led to practice outings for Haas, thanks to the long-standing relationship between the two teams.
A Stellar Junior Career
While serving as a reserve driver for Ferrari this season, Bearman has been building an impressive resume in Formula 2. He recently secured his first win of the season in the Austrian Sprint race, adding to his four victories from last year with Prema Racing.
Prior to Formula 2, Bearman dominated the junior ranks, conquering both the 2021 Italian F4 Championship and the 2021 ADAC F4 Championship. He also competed in the Formula 3 Championship in 2022.
Haas Excited to Develop Young Talent
Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu is thrilled to have Bearman on board. “It’s an exciting thing to be able to give a young driver as talented as Oliver Bearman his first full-time seat in Formula 1,” he declared.
Komatsu praised Bearman’s maturity, honed under the guidance of the Ferrari Driver Academy. He also highlighted the teenager’s impressive performance during his last-minute call-up to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
“Oliver proved he was more than ready for the task,” Komatsu said, “and we’ve seen that for ourselves running him in the Haas cars in our FP1 sessions over the past two seasons.”
Looking beyond his driving skills, Komatsu sees Bearman as a valuable asset to the team, both on and off the track. “Oliver’s a great guy and a very welcome addition to the team,” he said.

Who Will Be Bearman's Teammate?
With Bearman’s seat confirmed, speculation swirls around his 2025 teammate. Current driver Kevin Magnussen is fighting to retain his spot, while Nico Hulkenberg has already secured a drive with Sauber for next year (before their transition to Audi in 2026).
Esteban Ocon, departing Alpine, is a potential candidate for Haas. Valtteri Bottas, leaving Sauber, is also seeking a seat for 2025.
Bearman’s signing leaves just six seats unfilled on the 2025 grid, with Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine, Williams, Sauber, and Haas each having one vacancy to determine.
