Scuderia Ferrari SF25

Scuderia Ferrari, Formula 1’s most iconic and storied team, has unveiled its contender for the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship: the SF-25. This machine carries the hopes of the Tifosi worldwide and marks a highly anticipated era, with seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton joining Charles Leclerc in the cockpit. The SF-25 is the 71st Formula 1 car built by Ferrari, and the fourth of the current generation of ground effect cars introduced in 2022.

While maintaining the “SF” naming convention (Scuderia Ferrari), the SF-25 is described by the team as “a completely new car,” indicating significant departures from its predecessors despite the stability of the technical regulations for this final year before the major 2026 overhaul. The development has focused on maximizing the car’s potential in a season expected to be incredibly close, with fractions of a second making all the difference.

The SF-25’s livery also presents a striking evolution. While retaining the classic Ferrari Racing Red, it features a darker, matte finish reminiscent of the Scuderia’s early days. A bold, angled white band stands out as a distinctive feature, symbolizing dynamism and a forward-looking vision, creating a blend of tradition and modernity.

Chassis and Structure

The SF-25 is built around a carbon fibre composite monocoque with a honeycomb structure and survival cell. This design ensures exceptional rigidity for aerodynamic stability and driver safety, all while adhering to stringent weight regulations.

Power Unit: Ferrari 066/15

Powering the SF-25 is the Ferrari 066/15 1.6-liter direct injection V6 turbocharged engine. This hybrid power unit is limited to 15,000 RPM and features a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive layout. It includes the crucial energy recovery systems (MGU-H and MGU-K), ensuring both raw power and energy efficiency. While the power unit architecture itself has seen frozen regulations since 2022, Ferrari continues to focus on optimizing its use strategy for every race weekend.
