Mclaren Formula 1 Team : MCL38

Mclaren's Building a Strong Foundation

The dramatic changes made to the MCL60 during the 2023 season opened up exciting possibilities for the MCL38. Journalists like Lawrence Barretto believe this gives McLaren a strong foundation to build upon for their new car.

MCL60's Stumbles and Shakeup

Initial Design Disappointment: McLaren’s previous car, the MCL60, started out rough. Designed by James Key, it just wasn’t competitive. This led to Key leaving the team early in the 2023 season.

Internal Promotions: With Key’s departure, McLaren promoted Peter Prodromou and Neil Houldey to lead the design department.
